Engage 2021: Mission Mania

Please PLAN TO ATTEND MISSION MANIA June 26th, 6:00 p.m., at Jackson Free Methodist for a family-friendly event of food, fellowship, worship FUNdraising event for Engage 2021 Global Outreach Team Ministry trips.

Look forward to an evening of Worship Music with JFM's Worship Team, a live & silent auction with some amazing items to bid on, a bouncy house for the kiddos and and Pulled Pork, Salad & Ice Cream!  All this for the amazing suggested donation of $20 per person or  $50 per family.

JFM Global Outreach Team partners with 4 Global Ministries in Bulgaria, Burundi, Hungary and Honduras, for the purpose of cultivating changed lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.. In 2020, the JFM GO TEAM planned on 3 ministry team trips to Burundi, Hungary and Honduras. But then COVID-19 struck the world and prevented travel.  2021 has presented renewed hope and plans for those 3 ministry team trips to be continued!

The MISSION MANIA evening will go to support the ENGAGE 2021 Team Ministry Projects of Construction in Honduras, Human Trafficking Prevention in Hungary and a Medical & VBS team for Burundi.  At MISSION MANIA you will learn different ways you can invest through prayer, worship and giving as the need is close to $40,000 for all 3 ministry trips.  All proceeds from MISSION MANIA WILL GO TO SUPPORT THESE PROJECTS.  (if you have an item you'd like to donate to the auctions please contact Pat Byler at:  rickandpat@comcast.net )

God is a Global God and we are often reminded to pause to reflect who is our neighbor?  Don't miss this opportunity to invest in our neighbors Far as well as Near!  Maybe consider sharing this FUN event with your near neighbors and friends too!

What is "Busoma"

Busoma: Burundi, Sorgho (sorghum), Soja (soy), Maïse (corn)

In Kirundi these ingredients are amasaka (sorghum), isoya (soy), and ibigori (corn). Busoma gets its name from the grains it’s made of, which were chosen for their nutrient content, and amount of protein in particular.
Busoma was developed at Kibuye Hospital to combat malnutrition in kids, and it’s still made at the factory there. After the grain has been washed, cooked, and ground into flour, it’s then sent in sacks to the clinics at Muyebe and Burenza.
Each week 125 kids are fed at the Burenza feeding program. Twice a week parents from the surrounding area can bring their malnourished children to be weighed and measured, and to receive a nourishing cup of Busoma. JFM kids play a big role in making this possible, by buying some of these meals. The kids love the fact that they can impact someone so far away. Some kids even combine their money so they can have enough to buy Busoma. So far they have purchased 37 individual weeks, and 4 full months. The J-town kids can’t believe just how far away the kids are that they are feeding. What an amazing way for them to show love to others and participate in kingdom work!

Rainy Season in Burundi

Hey quick word and what you're seeing it is the rainy season in Burundi and the rain has been exceptionally heavy right now. Currently we are working to get the supplies to Burenza for the new maternity ward but with all the rain it is slowing things down greatly.
Prayers that the rain will subside soon and we will be able to open the ward and help mothers in need.

A NEW LEASE ON LIFE…

News from Burundi!!

Over twelve years ago God lead a group from JFM to a remote area located in the bush of Burundi Africa. This place is now what we all know as Burenza.  When the team arrived all that time ago there was one small building that serviced as the district office. Fast forward twelve years and this building has served as the launchpad for what’s now a sub-Saharan oasis of hope to the people of Burenza. But as you may have guessed the years and all the various uses have taken a toll and with the addition of the new maternity ward (soon to open) there is once again a need for this building as a ladies staff house.

In December along with our partners in Burundi, we asked the body of JFM for support to raise up this building and give it a new lease on life. Not only did you help meet the need but JFM more than doubled what was asked for.  Because of this, we have been able to complete all the asked renovations and we are now able to add a modern bathroom and shower area to the house.

It’s commonly said God doesn’t call the equipped but equips the called and JFM you responded to that call. Please stay tuned over the next two months as we’ll be rolling out additional Burundi-related information, updates, and a potential upcoming mission trip.

Building a Team for the Honduras Mission Trip!

God willing JFM will be sending a six man mission team, led by Pastor Jason and Doris Snyder, to Honduras in September.  The goal will be to finish roughing in a building for the storage of equipment and a vehicle.  Help is needed to lay three rows of cement blocks on the walls of a partially constructed building.  Once the walls are completed, rafters and tin roofing can be installed.

To complete the team, five additional people with some experience in the building trades are needed.  Even if you mixed cement for your uncle or granddad when you were a teen, or helped with framing a building, your skills may be needed. This is a great chance to help JFM, and Pastor Daisy, as we start building a relationship with this ministry in Honduras.  Please see the video below for further details. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Below are some further images of the pantry and office spaces that will be worked on during the trip:
